Year 7 will use “Faith Fusion” (Our Sunday Visitor)
Year 8 will use “Called to Be Catholic” (Loyola Press)
Description:
Students will be challenged to know their Catholic faith and to deepen their relationship with Jesus through service, examining the gospel accounts and teachings of the Church, and discussion as to how these teachings relate to their daily lives. These classes will be taught in large group sessions on alternating Monday nights by Religious Education and our Parish Priests. We welcome parent volunteers to assist with the meetings for small group breakout sessions and projects. Please contact Religious Education if you would like to assist.
Homework:
There will be some homework assigned with due dates.
Attendance:
Class attendance requires active participation and cooperative group behavior; body and soul should be present. We ask that, unless there is a true emergency, families and students commit to full attendance. In doing so, the student and family are affirming the importance of being knowledgeable as well as a faith-filled part of our parish community.
Let us be brave and reach an understanding with all of our coaches, directors, dance teachers, and tutors that faith formation is integral to the development of our children.
Regular class attendance is mandatory. Absenteeism, tardiness, and early dismissals have a negative impact on overall class learning, particularly in the group setting. We ask that you consider your family’s schedule and communicate with your student and your family before committing to registering for religious education formation.
If a student misses more than 2 sessions the Religious Education requirement for the year will be considered not met and the child may be required to complete extra assignments before moving to the next grade or repeat the grade level.
