Each year, St. Catharine Church sponsors a “Work of Human Hands” sale. WOHH is a project of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) which aims to promote human dignity and self-sufficiency in the developing world by bringing gift and food items produced by third world artisans for direct sale in the US. WOHH supports fair wages and safe working conditions for all involved half a world away. All of the proceeds of the sale are turned over to Catholic Relief Services to benefit the people who make the goods we sell.
Our annual WOHH sale takes place in the beginning of December, over one of the weekends in Advent, after each of our masses. Volunteers help with the set -up on the Saturday morning of the weekend in question, or by helping with sales after each of the masses, or by assisting with the pack-up of unsold items after the last mass on Sunday for return to CRS.
Many hands make light work, and we always welcome new members to our group. Even so much as a single hour of a volunteer’s time can make a difference. To help with our sale, which has generated tens of thousands of dollars in aid, please email Bob Stickles at [email protected], or call him at 201.652.2305 (home) or 201.406.0277 (cell).
