The Wedding Ministry at St Catharine Parish was started for the purpose of having a person present at the joyous celebrations of the Sacrament of Matrimony. This representative of our Parish acts as a minister of hospitality in welcoming the families and guests of the bride and groom, the groom and his groomsmen, the parents of the bride and groom, and the bride and her bridal attendants.
The Wedding Minister assists the presiding priest with the preparation and setup of the Church for the ceremony and does the final check that everything is in order and ready to begin... One very important responsibility is to work with the Music Minister to coordinate and direct the Entrance Processional and to assist the Bride before her entrance and walk down the aisle. This mostly involves making sure that her train is properly arranged and giving her a smile and some gentle words.
The role of the Wedding Minister is to do anything and everything to help make this very special day the best possible for the bride and groom as they exchange their vows, receive the Sacrament of Matrimony, and begin their future together.
