The 13th Annual "Work of Human Hands" Sale will be held in Community Hall after all the masses this weekend, December 1st/2nd.
What is a “Work of Human Hands” sale?
“Work of Human Hands” is a program whereby Catholic Relief Services, in partnership with SERRV International’s “Greater Gift “ organization, offers for sale here in the United States goods made by artisans in Asia, Africa, Latin America and elsewhere in the Third World. Our “Work of Human Hands” sale is a way for us as Catholics to live in solidarity with poor people overseas. Our purchases of Fair Trade gifts from all around the world promote the true spirit of Christmas. Our sale makes socially responsible shopping both fun and easy.
When and where will the St. Catharine “Work of Human Hands” sale take place?
Our sale will take place in Community Hall after all the masses on the weekend of Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2, 2018, the first weekend in Advent.
Who is sponsoring the sale?
The St. Catharine Work of Human Hands/JustFaith Group sponsors this sale. JustFaith is a national organization of Catholic men and women dedicated to the implementation of Catholic Social Teaching in parishes around the country.
Who benefits from this sale?
As has always been the case, all of the proceeds of our “Work of Human Hands” sale will be turned over to Catholic Relief Services for the benefit of the people in the Third World who made the goods we’ll be selling. This is not a fundraiser for us. Over the years we’ve been conducting this sale, we’ve contributed about $48,000 to Catholic Relief Services as a result of our work.
What’s available for purchase?
We’ll be selling house wares, decorative items, ornaments, jewelry, scarves, nativity materials, baskets and other woven goods, as well as Fair Trade coffee, chocolate and other food items. Most of the prices run from $3 to $40. Payments can be made by cash or by check.
