Mr. James R. Newman, believes that the Academy of Our Lady is committed to the development of the whole child, the learner, and the school citizen. Mr. Newman joins the parents and those who teach and work here to continue to work on building a faith filled culture that is collaborative and sustained.
Mr. Newman received his B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Montclair State University and his Masters degree from Columbia University in Education of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired. He completed post graduate work and is currently certified as a Classroom Teacher, Teacher of the Deaf, Teacher of Special Education, Supervisor, and Chief School Administrator. He was an elementary teacher and high school teacher before becoming Principal of a program for the deaf. He then assumed the responsibility of becoming the Director of Special Services in a public school system. Mr. Newman then became principal of an archdiocesan school from which he retired in 2016.
Mr. Newman and his wife, Maryann, have 3 grown children, all of whom are married. They are expecting their 6th grandchild. His family enjoys vacations together and days on the beach. Mr. and Mrs. Newman are parishioners in Saint Paul Church in Ramsey. Mr. Newman is very grateful for the welcome he has received at the Academy of Our Lady and looks forward to becoming a part of this wonderful community.
