The ministry is made up of a team of registered nurses, an educator and an administrative assistant when available.
Registered nurses staff the screenings on a rotating basis. The educator supplies “up to the minute” educational materials and bulletin inserts. The administrative assistant registers new and existing parishioners. Documentation of blood pressures are maintained and consistent with HIPPA policies. Each participant is given a card with their BP reading to keep for their records and share with their primary care provider.
At present each nurse is scheduled two to three times per year. We are currently in need of an administrative assistant. Our educator or one of the nurses frequently plays a dual role of both administrative assistant and clinician. We are always happy to have more clinical volunteers to participate in the role of practitioner in blood pressure monitoring and education.
