Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion represent our parish and create a vital link to our parish community by extending the love of Christ to our fellow parishioners who are homebound. Sent by the parish, they are the living witness that the community of faith & worship has not forgotten the absent sick, the invisible elderly and the unseen sufferers.
Ministers are trained, as prescribed by the Archdiocese of Newark, to conduct pastoral visits with time to listen and pray with the sick or homebound and to share Eucharist with them. Ministers are usually assigned to an individual, making weekly visits on Sundays or Weekdays, time spent usually depends on the person being visited.
Often, we seek drivers to take the homebound to doctor appointments or to Mass for special healing liturgies. On occasion the minister may be asked to do some light shopping.
