Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist have been assisting the priests and deacons with the distribution of Holy Communion at liturgical services since 1978. They may also bring the Eucharist to the sick and homebound within the parish boundaries. Thihttp://SCHEDULEs ministry is open to men and women who are exemplary Catholics, at least 18 years of age and who are parishioners of Saint Catharine Church. Selected and appointed by the Pastor, Extraordinary Ministers are trained, and then are assigned to serve at the liturgy they usually attend, unless there is a greater need for help at another Mass. This is the only ministry for which a mandate by the Archbishop is required, substantiating the seriousness of this commitment.
